FAQ’S

Do you travel?

Yes, while we are based in California, we happily pack our bags for destination weddings all around the world. We LOVE to travel and no destination is too remote. So far we’ve been to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Morocco, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Peru, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Iceland, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada and Mexico…some of them several times. Like we said, we love to travel and we would love to hear about the special place you are choosing to say your vows.

What should we know about working with you?

We think you should start by reading some of our client testimonials. We also think you might like to know that we feel these things are really important to share:

Customer service. We are here to help you from the moment you send your first email until your wedding album is shipped. We respond to all emails promptly, and in most cases within 24 hours. We understand that planning a wedding can be stressful and you have a lot of things to consider. Worrying about photography shouldn’t be one of them. We promise to make your experience with us an amazing one.

Our step-by-step wedding planning guide. This is probably your first time getting married and you likely don’t have any idea where to start or what to expect. We know we sure didn’t and we WISH we had all the info we put in our guide when we got married. We’ve included every little detail we could think of to make your process informed and streamlined. We’ve covered everything in this guide, even how to create the perfect timeline. Don’t know when you should schedule your engagement session or what time of day is best for a ceremony in the fall? It’s all in there, and then some. The information in the guide is gold.

Connection. We want to get to know YOU and learn about your story, your vision for the wedding, and what makes you laugh. We have a unique approach that allows us to get genuine emotions out of the most self-proclaimed “shy and awkward” couples. We always get the classic pose, you know, the one Mom is going to frame, but the majority of our sessions do not involve poses. We strive to capture the authentic you, whoever that might be. We’ve had quiet couples, giggly couples, shy couples, and everything in between. We walk you through your session with prompts to get the most authentic reactions. Seriously, it’s FUN to be in front of our cameras.

Our style. Luminous, timeless, authentic, romantic, genuine, these are all words that have been used to describe our work. We love shooting film to ensure that your photos have a dimensional true to life feel, while yet remaining timeless. Wedding photography styles are constantly changing but there is something about the way a film photo stands the test of time. We believe your photos should be just as relevant in 20-30 years as they are today. We are hybrid photographers which means that we incorporate both digital and film into different parts of the wedding day. We believe they both have advantages for our couples, but if we are being honest, film is our favorite.

What do you think is the most important factor to consider when hiring a photographer?

Ask yourself these questions. Can you see yourself in these photos as you browse through them? Will your photos still feel authentic in 20 years? Will a savings of $1,000 or $2,000 really make a difference in the long run? When the cake has been eaten, the flowers have dried up, and the dress has been stored away, your photos will last a lifetime, preserving your story for future generations.

While I’ve had a camera in my hands almost constantly for 20 years, I wasn’t a photographer when Manuel and I got married. Our wedding photos were one of the most important things to both of us but we didn’t really know what we were doing and we were overwhelmed. When it came time to hire someone, we went with an acquaintance who was a photographer, and also within our budget. He was a professional photographer so naturally, we assumed we’d be in good hands. To this day, if we could change one thing about our wedding, we would have tripled our photography budget and hired our dream photographer. There are no redos and you absolutely can not put a value on preserving these once in a lifetime moments.

How can we secure our date?

Once you decide to hire us we’ll send you a contract to sign electronically and an invoice to pay your retainer. We require a 50% non-refundable retainer to hold your spot (some couples opt to split this into 2 payments) and then you can make additional payments as you go. You can pay the final balance no later than 30 days prior to your wedding.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have all of the necessary coverage your venue will need and am happy to provide documentation should they require it.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes, we bring multiple camera bodies to every wedding. All of our packages include a second professional photographer who also has multiple camera bodies. We’ve got you covered.

How many images will we receive?

Each wedding varies on the amount of time invested in photography coverage, planned events and details. Our philosophy has always been quality over quantity. We curate the images to deliver the most beautiful representation of your day. On average you can expect to receive 50-100 images per hour of coverage, or for an 8-hour wedding, about 500-800 images.

Do you edit all of the images?

Yes, each image will be color corrected and edited to give it our signature style. Additional editing is available at a rate of $100 per hour for extensive requests like correcting a spray tan or removing objects from the background. We shoot our images in camera to be soft, beautiful, and luminous without relying on heavy manipulation afterward.

When can we expect our images?

We know how excited you are to see your photos. We guarantee a 45-day maximum turnaround on your wedding photos but we do our best to get them done sooner. Portrait sessions take about 3-4 weeks.

We would like prints. Do we have to order them through you?

No, you are welcome to print them on your own. We are also happy to take care of all the work for you. We do full retouching on all prints ordered through us. You can rest assured knowing we will handle everything for you and it will arrive the way it was meant to be seen. Our prints are printed on archival, fine art paper and the colors are matched for accuracy. Let me know if you want to see samples. We would love to go over all of the options over coffee or sangria, but mostly sangria.

How soon should we book you?

On average our couples book about 12 months out, usually just after booking their venue.

We aren’t sure if we should book an engagement session. What are your thoughts?

You aren’t required to book us for an engagement session but most of our couples do. Not only are they super fun, they are also a great opportunity to get to know each other and make sure you are comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. We find that our couples who invest in an engagement session are so much more comfortable in front of the camera on the wedding day. We tailor each session for our couples based on their feedback and vision. We always include the digital files so you can share and print freely. Most of our couples order prints to display at the wedding and use the images for their wedding website and save the date cards.
